Cry Club release "DFTM"
Cry Club are excited to release their second single, “DFTM”, a searing ear-worm with an important message.
“DFTM” is straightforward - keep your hands to yourself. The song is a way to take some power back, in what feels like this super helpless situation. Calling out a guy for behaving inappropriately at a gig seems easy in theory, but can be difficult in practice with so many factors to consider- what if he gets angry, what if people don’t believe you, what if everyone thinks you’re being a bitch?
Heather notes, “The song came about after seeing a tweet from someone complaining about a guy going in for the full body grab as he moved passed them in a club. The person turned around and said “Don’t fucking touch me, you creepy cunt!” and for some reason it struck this combination of unfortunately relatable and “DAMN, I wish I could say that”.”
“The whole thing is frustrating. It should be simple. Don’t fucking touch me. This is a way to finally be able to say it, and to help other people say it too. We want people to treat other people with respect at our shows, we want people to feel safe at our shows and know we’re looking out for them. It’s frustration you can dance to, have fun to, and know that you’re in good hands while you do so.”
Having made a big impact with showing up on the BIGSOUND line up before having released a song, they kept heads turning with debut single, "Walk Away” and continued their success by showing up on festival and party line ups across the East Coast over Summer. To celebrate, “DFTM” the band are headed on tour, playing a number of headline shows and festivals on the East Coast.
