Squaring Circles Sign To Best & Fairest
Best and Fairest are extremely excited to announce that Melbourne electronic duo Squaring Circles have signed to the label, becoming the second act on the roster.
Squaring Circles first came to prominence with the release of their debut single Anima earlier this year, gaining widespread radio exposure and blog coverage across the country. AAA Backstage said Anima “may be the best track of 2018” while Sound Doctrine declared it “an absolute wonder, wrapped in jazz, psych loops and hundred dollar bills”.
To mark the signing, the group have released the clip for their track Movement, which is taken from upcoming EP ‘Quarter’. The video features the work of Australian contemporary dancer Bec Jones and was made by Squaring Circles and Shannon Madden.
Squaring Circles is the experimental project of Brendan Anderson and Julien Huynh. Defined by the desire of capturing spontaneity, this group characterise themselves in their approach to the recording process acting as their writing process. This was complimented in their collaboration with vocalists Hayden Somerville and Lili Hall, who worked together to bring forth Squaring Circles debut EP ‘Quarter’.
‘Quarter’ is split into two halves. The first of which is originals from the outfit and the second half a reworking of the two tracks by Melbourne ambient act Nico Niquo and electronic artist Adonidia.
